What is floor insulation?
When insulating the floors of your customers' homes you will most often come across two types of flooring: suspended wooden flooring or concrete flooring.
With suspended floors, insulation needs to be installed in a way that allows the air to circulate to prevent the timber from getting damp. You can do this by either placing floor insulation boards underneath the timber joists or using breathable insulation with breathable membranes on top of, or in between, the floor joists. For solid concrete floors, standard solid insulation boards are placed on top before flooring is laid.
What are the benefits of having floor insulation?
Installing floor insulation can be an expensive process, depending on how disruptive and complex the job is. If you’re already working on a refurb project though, it’s worth looking at the flooring insulation while you’re at it.
