What are the benefits of using artificial grass?

Artificial grass is a great modern alternative to create the natural appearance of a green garden that needs much less maintenance and upkeep. Made from synthetic fibres designed to look exactly like natural grass, it is used for sports fields or garden spaces but can even be used indoors. Available in a range of sizes, we’ve got some high-quality Luxigraze Artificial Grass that is perfect for gardens, balconies and outdoor play or seating areas.

Creating an artificial lawn using fake grass is an excellent way to make sure your customer’s garden will last for many years to come. Luxigraze artificial turf rolls come with a 10-year UV guarantee and are very easy to install; they can be easily cut to size and have a pre-punched latex backing for drainage. Using fake turf rolls is ideal for families with children and pets, and they will last all year long throughout every season.

Laying artificial grass and keeping up with its maintenance

How you install your artificial lawn is just as important as the quality of the artificial grass roll itself. Whether you’re laying the faux grass on top of a crushed granite stone or sharp sand base or laying it on top of a hard surface like a patio or concrete, we’ve got some tools to help you finish the job to a high standard.

You can view our landscaping fabrics section for weed membranes that support drainage while preventing weeds. We have Luxigraze artificial grass tape that is used for the speedy joining of Luxigraze premium artificial grass, creating instant seams that are strong and durable. Alongside jointing tape, we have Luxigraze premium adhesive that forms an exceptionally strong bond to hold the plastic grass in place. For securing rolls of grass into soft ground we have artificial grass nails that are galvanised and tapered at the ends to help easily pierce through weed membrane.

With the hectic nature of working and family life, customers are opting for more maintenance-free options when it comes to their outdoor gardening projects. Our Luxigraze artificial grass needs no watering or mowing and can be easily cleaned when needed. We offer a concentrated artificial grass cleaner for a more generalised clean, as well as a spot cleaner that can remove small, specific stains and marks.

With the correct installation of your fake rolls of grass, the average life expectancy is upwards of 10 years. Although it may not last as long as natural grass, Luxigraze offers years of hassle-free maintenance. The synthetic turf is made from a highly durable plastic that is resistant to weathering, fading, or breaking. It doesn’t need to be mowed, watered or fertilised, and the artificial lawn rolls can also be placed in areas where natural grass may be struggling to grow.

Artificial grass can be expensive in the beginning stages, and requires specific installation, but the benefits of having a low-maintenance lawn that looks bright and fresh all year round.

FAQs

How to lay artificial grass?

Levelling the ground beneath your artificial grass is crucial to the installation and finished look. The layers beneath your artificial grass should include a sub-base of roadstone, granite or limestone chippings, a laying course of granite dust or limestone to create a smooth surface, and a weed membrane on top. You can then roll out your artificial grass before joining it together with tape or adhesive.

Do you need underlay for artificial grass on concrete?

If you’re laying your artificial grass on an existing surface, such as concrete, paving slabs, block paving or decking, you can lay some foam underlay instead of a laying course to provide a smooth surface for the artificial grass. The soft foam underlay will provide a soft feel underfoot and cover any imperfections in the existing surface.

Is artificial grass good for dogs?

Laying fake grass is a great option for owners of pets such as dogs and cats. All artificial grass is pet-friendly, and you won’t have to worry about dogs digging up grass and dirt or tracking mud inside the house. Animals are also less likely to be exposed to ticks and fleas or pesticides and weed killers in artificial grass lawns than natural grass lawns. Be careful in summer months, as fake grass can get quite hot in direct sunlight.

How to clean and maintain artificial grass?

Artificial grass is a great low-maintenance option as it doesn’t need to be mowed or watered regularly like a natural lawn would. If you do need to clean it, such as to remove a stain or spillage, you’ll need a specialist artificial grass cleaner with a brush, or a spot cleaner for small marks.

How long does artificial grass last?

When it’s installed correctly, your artificial grass lawn could last up to 10 years or more. Its longevity will depend on various factors including the quality of the base and materials used, maintenance (brushing and cleaning), the amount of foot traffic, pets, weather conditions and more.
