Chipboard, also known as particle board, is an engineered wood sheet that is extremely durable and versatile, making it one of the most popular sheet materials used in construction. Chipboard sheets are made of reconstituted wood – usually wood chippings, sawdust or shavings – that is compressed along with a synthetic resin or adhesive under high heat and pressure to create a rigid sheet of wood with a smooth surface.

These particle board sheets can be used for an excellent variety of applications including general purpose joinery, flooring and furniture making, and wall or ceiling lining, as well as a material in kitchen cabinets, worktops and framing. Chipboard tends to be a less expensive sheet material when compared to plywood or solid wood, and many customers will be familiar with melamine faced chipboard in flatpack furniture.

Or, if you’re after chipboard loft panels, our pack of three 18mm loft boards is the perfect solution for lofts and attics due to their easy tongue and groove fitting, and they can also be secured with nails or screws. This non-structural loft chipboard is incredibly long-lasting and low-maintenance but isn’t suitable for damp areas as it doesn’t offer water-resistance.
