What types of stair parts and staircases do we have available?
A set of stairs is a crucial part in allowing safe access between any two floors or levels within a building. Whether you want to improve the functionality and comfort of your staircase or choose something new to be a statement focal point within a room, there’s plenty to choose from.
If you’re working on a new-build and installing a brand-new staircase, or you’re in the middle of a renovation project to modernise an existing staircase, or if you simply want to replace one or two stair accessories, we’re sure we’ve got what you need at Selco to get the job done. If you’re starting from scratch, we stock a selection of staircases for you to browse through, including full standard staircase kits and staircase parts from brands such as Stairbox and Kwikstairs, and stair winder boxes to change the direction of a staircase.
A balustrade is often constructed alongside the staircase to add structural support, provide a handrail for balance, and to give an appealing, stylish finish to the stairs. We stock plenty of wooden stair parts and metal stair parts to construct your customer’s ideal balustrade.
We offer plenty of stair handrails, wall-mounted handrails and base rails to construct the balustrade. A strong handrail is important for aiding safety and balance when walking up and down the stairs, and you can have one running along the top of a balustrade, or mounted against the wall, or both! You can browse our handrail brackets and handrail cap ends and fittings sections too to find the perfect finishing touches for your rail.
As well as handrails and base rails you’ll need stair spindles, or stair balusters, which are thin, vertical pieces of wood that connect the handrail to the treads or base rail, as well as newel posts and caps, which sit at the top and bottom of the stairs on the ends of the balustrade and provide solid support. You can choose between various popular wooden finishes including pine stair parts and oak stair parts that can easily be painted, varnished or lacquered. We also have white primed stair parts that are ready to be installed as is.
Stair treads (horizontal) and stair risers (vertical) make up the steps in a set of stairs, and we stock a variety of stair treads and cladding to construct your staircase or repair an odd broken stair tread. We even have a stair tread that can double as a window sill, and metal stair nosing to act as a protective edge to the stair risers/treads and add a stylish finishing touch.
