What is a driveway?
Driveways are created to provide access and a parking space for a house or garage. As well as being functional, driveways can add an aesthetic value to a property and can be personalised to suit the overall landscaping décor.
How to choose a driveway material
Block paving driveways
If you're looking to create a paved driveway you can browse our selection of concrete block pavers. A block paving driveway is a great way to boost your customer’s curb appeal, and we have an excellent selection of driveway pavers from top trade brands such as Stonemarket. Available in a wide range of rich colours, textures, sizes and styles, our driveway block paving is highly durable and resistant to damage, heavy loads and weathering, meaning they’ll last for years to come. No matter your customer’s vision or budget, we’re sure we’ve got something to suit every landscaping project to create the perfect driveway.
As well as being hard-wearing and aesthetically pleasing, block paved driveways and concrete driveways are relatively easy to clean and maintain. Investing in a pressure washer is a great way to clean large areas, and our paving care section includes a variety of driveway cleaners to choose from.
When working on your driveway project, you might be looking for driveway kerbs as well as driveway paver blocks. Our kerbs are ideal for creating a clean border on any driveway, whether you want to match the kerb to your pavers for a seamless look or choose a contrasting style. No matter the job at hand, we’re sure our range of both driveway paving and driveway edging includes something for every project.
Gravel driveways
If you’ve opted for a gravel driveway, you can browse our landscaping aggregates section to find the right size and style of driveway gravel for your customer. When installed correctly, gravel driveways are an excellent option as they drain well and can be constantly replenished.
However, gravel can move around in areas of high foot or vehicle traffic, causing it to build into potholes and ridges which may lead to accidents and poor drainage – to combat this, you can use a gravel driveway grid. Our gravel grids are designed to stabilise loose gravel and maintain a flat, porous surface for the driveway.
You might also want to consider installing weed membranes underneath gravel driveways to prevent weeds from growing up through the gravel. We have a selection of landscaping fabrics that combat weeds while still allowing for proper drainage.
