Melamine Faced Chipboard
More information about Melamine Faced Chipboard
Melamine Faced Chipboard (MFC), also known as melamine board, furniture board or conti board, is a versatile, cost-effective wood material for internal projects. It's an engineered wood sheet material that is made from compressing wood chippings together with a synthetic resin or adhesive under high heat or pressure to create rigid panels of chipboard. The chipboard sheets are then covered in a thin layer of melamine resin, which provides a smooth, decorative finish.
MFC boards were once considered a low-budget material, but the standard of melamine chipboard today is much more impressive. A highly resourceful material, MFC comes in various sizes, colours and finishes and can be used for furniture, kitchen cabinets, shelving boards and other interior projects where a durable, attractive finish is needed.
What types of melamine panels do we have available?
We stock a few melamine sheets in varying finishes and lengths, perfect for furniture making projects. If you’re looking for white shelving or white furniture board, we’ve got white melamine board which is ideal for general internal construction projects. White conti board is most often used in building kitchen cabinets and other furniture. Or for a grey melamine shelf option, we’ve got cool grey melamine board too. With a 15mm thickness and a huge variety of lengths and widths available, our grey and white MFC shelving is hard-wearing, durable and highly resistant to warping and splitting.
We also stock white edging tape, which is a pre-glued, iron-on edging tape that is an excellent accessory to white shelf boards as it blends in perfectly to the rest of the surface.
