Our selection of garden gravel bulk bags in various sizes and styles

We’ve got plenty of bags of gravel available in varying sizes and quantities. Gravel is a versatile landscaping aggregate that is a popular choice for driveways or footpaths in the garden because of its fantastic durability and drainage qualities. It’s also great for providing a stable surface to walk or drive on, especially when used with gravel grids. As well as improving drainage in flower beds or areas where soil is prone to getting waterlogged, it can be strategically placed in areas to prevent erosion or used alongside landscaping fabrics to prevent the growth of unwanted weeds.

Available in multiple sizes, textures and rich colours, gravel can also be used as a decorative aggregate to add the finishing touch to rock gardens, flower beds, borders and more. Whether you’re creating contrast or just enhancing the overall look of the garden, we’ve got various popular styles such as stunning golden gravel to choose from.

We stock large gravel bags, including 20mm and 10mm gravel bags. Or, if you’re working on a larger project, we have both 10mm gravel bulk bags and 20mm gravel bulk bags available to order for delivery.

FAQs

How much gravel do I need?

First, calculate the area you wish to cover with gravel by multiplying the length by the width, before multiplying the area by the depth - this will give you the number of cubic metres of gravel you’ll need. Work out how much an individual bag of gravel will cover, then divide your total volume by one bag to work out how many bags you need.

Do I need a weed membrane under gravel?

Yes – laying a weed control membrane underneath the gravel is one of the best ways to suppress weeds from growing up through the gravel. Without a weed control fabric, weeds can make your driveway or path look messy, move the gravel and make it slippery when wet, and attract insects and rodents.

How do I stop weeds growing through gravel?

Aside from laying a high-quality weed control membrane down underneath your gravel, you can use pre-emergent or non-selective herbicides and weed killers, or home remedies such as rock salt, white vinegar or baking soda to kill the weeds and prevent new growth.

How deep should gravel be?

10mm gravel should be laid at least 30-40mm deep, whilst 20mm gravel should be at least 40-50mm deep. For driveways, the depth should always be deeper.

How do I clean gravel?

Use a garden hose or a pressure washer on a low setting to wash the gravel without displacing too much of it, or you can use a brush or broom to scrub. Use a specialised cleaning solution or home remedies such as soapy water with washing up liquid or white vinegar.
