Skirting

More information about Skirting

If you’re working on the finishing touches to an interior room, you might be on the lookout for some high-quality decorative skirting board to complete the look. Skirting boards, sometimes known as baseboards, are narrow panels or mouldings placed at the bottom of an internal wall on the edge where it meets the floor, offering both aesthetic and protective value. The main purpose of a skirting board is to conceal the joint between the wall and the floor and to provide protection for the bottom of a wall and the edge of the flooring, where it might be hit or marked accidentally during day-to-day activities such as vacuuming.

Architrave and skirting are not only functional, but it adds decorative charm to a room too, with a huge variety of styles and designs to choose from including ogee, torus, bullnose and much more. Each style will influence the room's character and help bring the overall interior design together. They’re very easy to install and maintain too, with various skirting being made from uPVC, MDF or other wood materials that can be wiped clean.

We’ve got a fantastic range of skirting board styles to choose from, whether you’re looking for a traditional design or something more modern. There’s various heights, widths and thicknesses to browse too – from tall, deep skirting boards to add a statement, to thin skirting boards that don’t protrude from the wall too much. Whatever you’re looking for, we’re sure we’ve got something for every project at Selco.

What types of skirting board do we have available?

Skirting board materials

Whether you’re after plastic or wood skirting boards, we’ve got a variety of materials to choose from depending on the job at hand and any special requirements. Our wooden skirting range includes MDF skirting, hardwood skirting, softwood skirting and oak veneer skirting board.

Our MDF skirting range includes plenty of pre-painted, white skirting boards of every profile, made from hard-wearing and long-lasting MDF wood. All our primed MDF skirting and architraves are moisture-resistant, too. Our hardwood skirting is made from durable red hardwood and features a smooth, machined finish that can be painted, stained or varnished, and our softwood skirting is created from high-quality, precision-finished timber. For a more cost-effective alternative to solid oak, our oak veneer skirting is made from durable MDF and wrapped in real wood veneer.

We also stock plastic skirting boards made from strong, low-maintenance uPVC with an attractive white finish.

  • Lambs tongue – Lambs tongue skirting board uses both straight and rounded edges to create a sloping finish.
