Nottingham memorial garden boosted by Selco
December 21st, 2022Selco Nottingham has donated materials to help a youth club set up a community memory garden.
Hyson Green Youth Club, based on Terrence Street, is due to take the wraps off its new facility before the end of the year.
Completion of the final stages of the project has been made possible by our Nottingham branch, based on Mar City Park on Radford Road in Basford.
It donated around £500 worth of building materials and provided a discount on other products to help complete the garden.
Marrisa Marquis, project coordinator for Hyson Green Youth Club, said: “The donation from Selco Builders Warehouse has made a real difference to the memory garden.
“We are extremely grateful for the materials and excited at the impact the garden will have on the local community, creating a tranquil space where people can visit, relax and reflect.
“We want to play our part in helping people recover from the negative effect of the pandemic and subsequent lockdowns.
“Local residents will be welcome to come to the memory garden and relax with refreshments.
“There will be a water feature, candles, a plant and herb area and a dedicated space where people can remember loved ones who have passed.
“The Selco donation will enable us to build a shelter and put the finishing touches to the memory garden.”
The Hyson Green Youth Club has been established more than 80 years and has developed into a community hub open every day to groups and organisations.
Adam Newbold, Trade Sales Manager at Selco Nottingham, said: “We are delighted to be supporting the Hyson Green Youth Club in its new project.
“Where possible, we aim to support the local communities in which we operate and this memory garden certainly fits the bill.
“We have provided timber and other materials which will help make a difference to the final stages of the project and we look forward to seeing the local community enjoying the garden.”
