Leeds rugby league club wins clubhouse boost
November 13th, 2023A thriving Leeds rugby league club has won thousands of pounds of building materials from Selco as it moves closer to completing its new clubhouse.
West Leeds Amateur Rugby League Club were crowned champions in our Growing Grassroots competition, in conjunction with the Rugby Football League (RFL).
The club, based on Redshaw Road, has won £2,000 to spend at Selco Leeds Elland Road, as well as a visit from England players and tickets to a Test match.
West Leeds Amateur Rugby League Football Club are in the final throes of building a new £130,000 community clubhouse with changing rooms, kitchen, viewing area, toilets and storage area.
Sam Horner, a trustee at the club, said: “We were thrilled to win the Growing Grassroots competition.
“Some of our younger players loved meeting England stars Tyler Dupree and Caitlin Beevers. It was a really inspirational experience for them and winning tickets to the England v Tonga match was also fantastic.
“The icing on the cake, though, was the £2,000 to spend at our local Selco. Our new clubhouse is really taking shape and this will allow us to buy some of the materials we need to finish the job.
“A huge thank you to Selco and the Rugby Football League. It means so much to us to have their support.”
Selco is an official partner of the RFL and was an official partner of the Rugby League World Cup last year.

“West Leeds ARLFC have worked really hard to build a new clubhouse and this prize will come as a significant boost.
“Tyler and Caitlin really enjoyed meeting some of the West Leeds ARLFC players and supporting grassroots rugby, which is where it all began for them.”
